Getting To Panarea

Panarea & the surrounding islands of the Isole Eolie are not accessible by plane. The best way to reach the island is by hydrofoil, with the fastest ferries departing from MILAZZO, MESSINA or Calabria.

However, depending on your departure point within Italy, there are other ports that you can board a hydrofoil to Panarea.

Once you arrive at Panarea the hotel is a 5-minute walk from the Port.

Hydrofoil tickets can be reserved using the link provided below:

Accommodation

We have held some rooms for our guests at Hotel Cincotta, where both our ceremony & reception will take place.

To reserve one of the rooms we’ve set aside for our guests please email info@hotelcincotta.it from August 2024.

When emailing, please mention that you’re booking a room for Claudia Tonitto’s wedding to access our special discounted rate.

Our wedding island and our favourite of the 7!! There are no cars other than vespas and golf buggies on the island so most things are within walking distance.

We're excited to share the best of Panarea with you during our pre-planned wedding celebrations. However, see below for our other suggestions for your time here:

  • Walk around the shops/streets here, they are so pretty!

  • Most of you will be staying at Hotel Cincotta – the best Italian brekkie on the island!!

  • Walk up to the local church (Chiesa di San Pietro) which has a beautiful view

  • Walk to Spiaggia Zimmari (beach) which is 20 min walk from Hotel Cincotta. From there hike a bit further to Cala Junco (see this link for pics and more info on how to find it https://www.feetonforeignlands.com/2016/08/05/cala-junco-punta-milazzese-panarea-walk/ ) We haven't done this walk yet but it's on our list for when we’re there!!

  • ‘Casual Restaurant’ Panarea for dinner

  • ‘Bridge Ammare’ Panarea for lunch or dinner

Travel Tips

Panarea is one of 7 islands of the Isole Eoile. Each of the surrounding islands have something special to offer.

Here are a mix of our favourite places and other newly found recommendations that we are yet to try:

THe biggest island of the 7 and where Claudia’s Nonna grew up.

Our suggestions:

  • Only 1 day needed here

  • Hire vespas for the day and drive around the entire island - 1 hr for the round trip with plenty of beautiful stops along the way, including:

  • Stop for a swim at Canneto beach

  • Stop to eat & swim at one of the beach clubs on Acquacalda (Aurora Beach Club was amazing!! Make sure to order the Swordfish Carpaccio)

  • Stop for an incredible view out over Lipari & Vulcano at ‘Belvedere Quattrocchi’ viewpoint

  • Tennuta Di Castellaro Winery – book the sunset tasting for the most magical sunset & wine tasting

One of the prettiest of the islands & definitely one you can stay at for a few days!

Accommodation options:

  • Principe Di Salina

  • Capofaro

  • Hotel Signum

Things to do:

  • Wine tasting and/or experience working in the vineyard at Capofaro Hotel

  • Spiaggia Di Pollara (beautiful bay/place to swim)

  • Cooking class at Hotel Signum w. Michelin Star Chef Martina Caruso

Places to eat:

  • Hotel Signum Salina (we ate on the terrace here for dinner – absolutely beautiful!)

  • Porto Bello

Not as much to do here but the two things we suggest below are definitely worth the trip!!

Our suggestions:

  • Vulcano’s thermal water mud baths – an awesome experience bathing in the bubbling volcanic water of Vulcano

  • Enjoy a magical sunset dinner at one of the many beautiful restaurants at Therasia Resort – there are free shuttles that run from the port to the resort (about a 10 min drive).
